Psychological meeting at U–jazdowski
Screening of the film Sick of Myself followed by a meeting with psychologist and psychotherapist Marta Cieśla
-
We invite you to a special screening of the film Sick of Myself followed by a meeting with psychologist and psychotherapist Marta Cieśla.
- Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli’s feature was one of the biggest revelations at the recent Cannes Film Festival. This hilarious tragicomedy is a painfully true story about how far we are willing to go to be seen. A story that is particularly up to date in the age of social media expansion.
- At first glance, Signe (played by the rising star of Scandinavian cinema Kristine Kujath Thorp, known from Ninjababy) and Thomas seem like the perfect couple. Young, intelligent, with broad horizons and refined taste. However, appearances are deceiving and their relationship, instead of mutual support, is based largely on an unhealthy rivalry. The only question is which of them has the bigger ego.
- When the man – an aspiring artist – achieves unexpected success, the couple’s balance is skewed. Signe cannot accept that the spotlight is now focused solely on her partner. Desperate, she deliberately abuses dangerous pharmaceuticals, which rapidly takes a toll not only on her health but also on her looks. But what is a little (?) suffering compared to the compassion and attention once again fully focused on herself?
- Directly after the screening, Marta Cieśla will help us notice and understand the psychological mechanisms and processes influencing the characters’ behaviour, as well as their motivations.
- Marta Cieśla is a psychologist and cognitive behavioural psychotherapist. She supports children, adolescents and young adults in coping with anxiety, depression, eating disorders and challenges related to ADHD or the autism spectrum disorder. At the same time, she helps parents develop their parenting skills and accompanies them through changes in the psychotherapy process. In her work, she values methods with proven effectiveness, relationship building and belief in the unlimited potential of the human being. She works under constant supervision. She graduated in psychology from Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, as well as from the postgraduate School of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy at the SWPS University in Warsaw under the supervision of Dr A. Popiel (PhD) and Dr E. Pragłowska (PhD). She is a member of the Polish Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy.
