{Live} – Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art

This time we invite you to the U–jazdowski Cinema, where we will screen Are You Here? directed by Xawery Deskur. Following the screening, we will meet with the artist, who will talk about his research project Foreign Feathers, developed as part of his doctoral studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the supervision of Dr Hab. Jakub Wróblewski, Professor of the Academy.

• Xawery Deskur works at the intersection of film, video art, photography, and sculpture, expanding the boundaries of the cinematic medium by incorporating elements of intermedia art. His works have been presented at Sundance TV Shorts (London), Greenpoint Film Festival (New York), Berlin Short Film Festival, Video Art and Experimental Shorts Film Festival (New York), as well as at numerous festivals and art events in Poland, including Artloop (Sopot), WRO Biennale (Wrocław), Narracje (Gdańsk), Etiuda & Anima, Krakow Art Salon, and ArtBoom (Kraków)

  • Privately, he is the guardian of Lars – a rabbit rescued from a Warsaw laboratory.

• Every week, we meet live with artists to talk about art: creative processes, works, and current experiences. 

  • We host both artists who have previously taken part in Ujazdowski Castle’s programme and those making their debut. In this series, we would like to focus on individual approaches and artistic practices. 

• Why take part? 
  • In times of tensions and crises, thinking and talking together about contemporary art – which responds to today’s challenges in unconventional ways – helps strengthen social resilience. Art is not only the object – just as important are the process, the thinking, the emotions, and the relationships that accompany it. The meetings offer a closer look at how art is created and, most importantly, who creates it. 
    • The meetings are open to everyone, from people working professionally in culture and art, to those who are curious about artists and their work, or simply want to talk about art. 
  • The events will be recorded for archival purposes, and the recordings will be made available online through the Mediateka.
