{Live} – Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art

On 1 July at 6:00 pm, we invite you to Pracownia for a meeting with Piotr Puldzian Płucienniczak — an artist, publisher, and sociologist. He is a member of the Faculty of Artistic Research at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and head of the Dar Dobryszyc publishing house.

• Regional art is art that knows, or comes to know, its own country. Wild regional art grows beyond cultivated fields and spreads along the roads travelled by those familiar with the subject. There is also feral regional art — art that once grew in a flowerbed or garden plot before wandering off on its own, for example along the Widawka River.

This is where our story begins, collecting stories along the riverbank. Along the way, we will encounter different forms of regional art, as well as priests, people wanted by the police, founders of businesses, anglers, and many other remarkable people living in Poland.

• Every week, we meet live with artists to talk about art: creative processes, works, and current experiences. 
  • We host both artists who have previously taken part in Ujazdowski Castle’s programme and those making their debut. In this series, we would like to focus on individual approaches and artistic practices. 

• The events will be recorded for archival purposes, and the recordings will be made available online through the Mediateka. 
  • In times of tensions and crises, thinking and talking together about contemporary art – which responds to today’s challenges in unconventional ways – helps strengthen social resilience. Art is not only the object – just as important are the process, the thinking, the emotions, and the relationships that accompany it. The meetings offer a closer look at how art is created and, most importantly, who creates it.
