Daniel Koniusz
  • How do we listen to space, and what can sound reveal? On 27 May, we invite you to a meeting with Daniel Koniusz an artist, researcher, and educator whose practice operates at the intersection of sound, installation, and spatial intervention.

    • Koniusz’s work is driven by an ongoing inquiry into the economy of attention and the continuous flows of late capitalism. He approaches sonic generation as a form of resistance, working with strategies rooted in audio recycling and generative processes. Rather than producing new objects, he focuses on the extraction and recontextualisation of existing environments, treating space as an active participant in artistic practice.
  • In his works, he uses modular synthesizers and data sonification to construct slow, generative soundscapes based on micro-changes and duration. The immersive acoustic environments he creates explore hidden structures and relationships embedded in architecture and everyday spaces.
    • Daniel Koniusz was born in 1985 in Sosnowiec and is based in Poznań. He holds a PhD in Fine Arts and leads the Audiosphere Studio at the Institute of Intermedia at the University of the Arts in Poznań. Since 2016, he has also directed Skala Gallery an independent platform for experimental and transdisciplinary artistic practices.
  • His work has been exhibited internationally, including at SALTS in Switzerland, Hagiwara Projects in Tokyo, Nijo-jo Castle in Kyoto, and the Osaka Kansai International Art Festival in Japan, as well as Eastcontemporary in Milan and DAMA in Turin. In Poland, his work has been shown at Wschód Gallery in Warsaw, MOCAK and Manggha Museum in Kraków, TRAFO in Szczecin, and the National Museum in Poznań. In 2019, he was awarded the Bronze Medal for Merit to Polish Culture.
  • {Live}
    • Every week, we meet live with artists to talk about art: creative processes, works, and current experiences.
      • We host both artists who have previously taken part in Ujazdowski Castle’s programme and those making their debut. In this series, we would like to focus on individual approaches and artistic practices.
  • Why take part?
    • The events will be recorded for archival purposes, and the recordings will be made available online through the Mediateka.
      • In times of tensions and crises, thinking and talking together about contemporary art  which responds to today’s challenges in unconventional ways  helps strengthen social resilience. Art is not only the object  just as important are the process, the thinking, the emotions, and the relationships that accompany it. The meetings offer a closer look at how art is created and, most importantly, who creates it.
      •
  • The meetings are open to everyone, from people working professionally in culture and art, to those who are curious about artists and their work, or simply want to talk about art.
    • We do our best to make the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art accessible to everyone  we would like to adapt the event to you and your needs. To help us do that, please contact our accessibility coordinator: dostepnosc@u-jazdowski.pl, no later than the Monday before the event.
