Practical Interfaces MiniLab

Milan Kroulík, PhD in Philosophy (ERRaPhiS Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès)

In this workshop, we will explore what it means when bodies interact with digital worlds through interfacing technologies.

Together, we’ll read fragments of interface theory and research on human-digital relations in our contemporary digital reality. After that, we’ll experiment with hands-on exercises: using our own bodies, as well as the spaces and screens surrounding us to test what the interface as concept and thing can do, and where its limits lie. It will be about applying the concepts discussed in unexpected contexts, such as thinking about our own bodies or parts of bodies as interfaces, as much as more straightforwardly technological ones.

Along the way, we’ll also draw on examples from our experiences, memories, knowledge of art and the IF/THEN exhibition to play and interact with interfaces, and, if time allows, even speculate on imagined interface futures.

  • Workshops will be held in English
