Concert for Ales Pushkin

  • Please join us for a streaming of a concert for Ales Pushkin that will take place on 14 January at 7 p.m. at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in the Laboratory Building (Auditorium Hall).
  • The concert is organized by the Belarusian Council for Culture in a gesture of solidarity with Ales Pushkin and all cultural workers repressed for political reasons.
    • Featuring: N.R.M., Andrej Melnikał, Aleg Hamenka, Рэха, Aliaksander Pamidorał
  • Ales Pushkin is an outstanding Belarusian artist and performer, an active public person. On 30 March 2021, Pushkin was arrested by the Belarusian police at the request of the Grodno prosecutor’s office. Following the arrest, his house was searched and his studio demolished. Ales remains in custody, facing up to 12 years’ imprisonment for “instigation to hatred” (Part 3, Paragraph 130 of the Belarusian Penal Code).
    • The prosecutor’s office launched an investigation and pressed the charge of “instigation to hatred” because of Pushkin’s painting at the Grodno Centre of Municipal Life. The painting is a portrait of Jauhien Zhikhar, the leader of an anti-communist guerrilla unit that fought the Soviets for ten years after the war. The prosecutors had decided that presenting his image was a “rehabilitation of Nazism” because Zhikhar earlier collaborated with the Germans fighting against the USSR.

  • Tickets: 10 zł
  • Express your support for Ales by joining us for the streaming — all proceeds from the sale of tickets go to the Belarusian Council for Culture which supports Ales Pushkin and other repressed cultural workers.
