Petition calling for the release of Ales Pushkin

We call on the Belarusian authorities to release the artist Ales Pushkin, who was wrongly accused of promoting fascism. In March 2021 the cultural centre in Grodno was closed, and Ales Pushkin was arrested for displaying a portrait of Auhien Żychar in a painting exhibition and thus “promoting fascism”.

On 6 April 2021, eight organizations, including the Viasna – Human Rights Centre, the Belarusian Association of Journalists, the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, and the Belarusian PEN-Centre, recognized Puszkin to be a political prisoner.
