Sofia, an anthropology student, devotes her life to caring for her ailing mother. Hoping to improve her mother’s health and find an effective treatment, she takes her to the coastal Spanish town of Almería. While Rose undergoes therapy at the clinic of the enigmatic healer Dr. Gómez, Sofia spends the sweltering summer days getting to know the locals. Having always lived in service of her mother’s needs, she begins to explore her own desires and enters into a relationship with Ingrid, a mysterious and free-spirited traveler.
