The ear should be cleaned, then pricked up – advise composer Agnieszka Bykowska, improvising guitarist Michał Sember, and Canadian sound artist crys cole. During the concert, the first one will play a continuous sound, the second one – an intermittent one, and the third one will disperse sounds throughout the space. The programme of the improvised music concert features “suspicious improvisations of heterogeneous characteristics”, explain the musicians. crys cole
is a Canadian sound artist. She works in composition, performance, sound sculpture, and installation. Her works address issues related to transience, time, memory, and illusion. The artist uses simple materials from everyday life and practices site-specific art. Her music has been released by, among others, Penultimate Press, Boomkat, Another Timbre, and Bocian Records. In September 2024, Black Truffle released her latest album Making Conversation.
Michał Sember
is a guitar player based in Środa Śląska. Inspired by the tradition of Polish sonorism, irregular genres of club music, and the reductionism of the Tokyo onkyo movement, he makes electronic music of diverse functionality. Closely associated with the Musica Privata festival and the Macondo collective, he organized, among other things, the Wrocław solo improvisation festival Music is My Parachute (2017–2020).
Agnieszka Bykowska
is a sound artist. Author of the project A Long Time Ago, she creates unique soundscapes based on spatial, raw synthesizer sounds, moving between genres such as ambient, drone, minimalist, and electroacoustic music. Bykowska lived in Bydgoszcz from 2013 through 2022, actively participating in the arts community associated with the MÓZG club. In 2021 she debuted with the album Automatic Reply; 2024 saw the release of her second album SACRALIA (Pointless Geometry). Among her inspirations are the concept of time, spirituality, and the emotional nooks and crannies of human nature.
