Jagoda Stączek

was born in 1990 in Wałbrzych and still lives there. She graduated with a diploma in Art Education from the Faculty of Painting, Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. She has worked with Newsweek Psychologia, KUKBUK magazine, Pismo, and Wysokie Obcasy, among others. Her work has also been presented in K Mag magazine and by the Puro Hotel chain. Jagoda loves to play with meanings, often pulling elements out of their natural setting and changing the context. She also has an affinity with time-worn, yellowed newsprint paper and herbariums. Whenever she travels, she collects old magazines, fragments of damaged books and forgotten photographs found in back-alley antique shops and Sunday flea markets. Most of her collages are created in this way. While she prefers to use paper scraps, with her favourite tools being scissors and glue, she also creates digital collages. Her main inspiration is traditional painting – baroque paintings in rural churches, renaissance portraits, old post-German atlases of plants and anatomy that inspired a mixture of fascination and fear throughout her childhood. She has also created a series of moving dioramas, inspired by 19th-century paper theatres. All this is always combined with a hint of macabre humour, inside jokes and hidden subtexts. For more information, see: www.blueberrythinks.pl and Instagram @blueberrythinks
