Project Room 2018 Awards Ceremony

Performance Theatre of War by Dominika Olszowy

Between April and December 2018, the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art presented six original exhibitions by young artists as part of the Project Room series: Grzegorz Stefański, Maria Toboła, Weronika Gęsicka, Ania Nowak, Karolina Mełnicka and Karolina Babińska.

At the beginning of 2019, an international jury comprising Katarzyna Korczak (artist, Slavs and Tatars), Pablo Larios (senior editor at Frieze), Jarosław Lubiak (artistic director of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art), Karolina Ochab (director of Nowy Teatr) and Manuel Segade (director of Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo) will choose the two most interesting exhibitions. The artists awarded with the Main Prize and the Second Prize will receive 20,000 PLN and 10,000 PLN, respectively. The winners will be announced on Friday, January 25th at 20:30.

Project Room is addressed to young artists before their institutional solo debut. Since 2012, its goal has been to provide a chance for professional cooperation in the preparation of premiere exhibitions, the production of new works and artistic experimentation.

The awards evening will be the opportunity for another artistic experiment – this time directed by Dominika Olszowy and her guests. The artist creates works on the borderland of various media, using, among others, video, performance, sculpture, installation and set design, all of which are characterized by a unique combination of comedy and melancholy. During the award ceremony we will see her latest project, which, as the artist herself says, will be "deadly serious".

Admission to the performance is possible only with an invitation, but we invite everyone to the after-party.
