Artistic residency at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart in 2018

  • Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Akademie Schloss Solitude are pleased to announce the results of an open call for artistic residency.
    • Jury comprised of Ujazdowski curators, Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Akademie Schloss Solitude representatives decided to grant artistic residency to Karolina Grzywnowicz. Congratulations!
  • Karolina Grzywnowicz is a visual artist, using interdisciplinary approach. Her recent works deal with plants in social and political context, often of the violent nature. Her practice is research based, making use of archival materials, interviews, oral history and bibliographic records. She looks for parallels between historical events and contemporary social and political discourses driven by urgent issues of violence, exile and migration. She works in various media: sculpture, site specific public installations, audio installations, art interventions and participatory projects. She graduated from Jagiellonian University, the Faculty of Comparative Literature (Kraków, 2003-2008). She is a grand holder of a scholarship of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Poland and European Cultural Foundation. Her works were exhibited e.g. in Zachęta National Gallery of Art (Warsaw), Onomatopee Projects (Eindhoven), Office for Cultural Translations (Leipzig), WRO Art Center (Wrocław), BWA Gallery of Contemporary Art (Katowice). She lives and works in Berlin.
