Rooted Design for Routed Living

Carried out in the years 2008–2010, the project Rooted Design for Routed Living. Alternative Design Strategies dealt, on the one hand, with the specificity of furnishing live/work spaces for artists-in-residence, while, on the other hand, with searching for the roots of local material culture and its distinct characteristics in different regions. Over the course of two years, a group of Polish and Norwegian designers attended creative, workshop, research, and production residencies in Warsaw and Norway, and created a series of prototypes to be used by residents of Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw and NKD, Dale, Norway.
