Iren Moroz

(born 1984) is a Ukrainian documentary photographer, film director, artist, writer, and poet. In her documentary and artistic practice, she focuses mainly on exploring the relationship between human rights and crisis in societies undergoing transition, for example Ukraine. Iren mainly works on long-term projects, some of which have lasted for over a decade.

She is the winner of Photographer of the Year 2012 for a project entitled Funeral. Her photobook Tetanus shot was awarded the 2nd degree Diploma at the international competition Ukrainian photobook 2016

In her practice, she also explores the interactions between the photographer and their subject spending long periods of time with protagonists of documentary photo projects definitely impacts the photographer as well. To reflect on this experience, Iren started working on the project And I’m not my own, which uses self-portraiture. Since August 2021, she continues to work on the documentary My River Ba.
