Lada Nakonechna (Ukraina)
Lada Nakonechna
(based in Berlin and Kyiv) creates drawings, public space actions, installations, videos and performances. She builds her multipartite installations and arranges her objects in a specific way, in order to integrate the whole space, including the visitors within it. The artist’s interests lie in the structure of social relationships, the mutual dependence between acting and viewing and the perceptions and roles of art in them.
She has received several awards, including the Malevich Award in 2014. Within the framework of this award, she has been invited to take up residency at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle. Lada Nakonechna has participated in numerous international and Ukrainian exhibitions individually and as part of the R.E.P. group (revolutionary experimental space, since 2004). In 2011 in Leipzig she carried out a project in the public space - a wall drawing in the University Library "Albertina".
Lada Nakonechna’s residency in 2012 coincided with her solo show Weekdays at {Bank Pekao Project Room} in Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in the frames of TRANSFER: Polish-Ukrainian Exchange project.
Apart from her artistic work, Lada Nakonechna creates and curates exhibitions together with the curatorial and activist union called Hudrada (Artistic committee, from 2008), and is a member of ISTM (Art Workers’ Self-defense Initiative). Since 2012, she teaches a course in Contemporary Art in Kyiv.
