Sofiia Kupetska (Софія Купецька) (Ukraine)
Sofiia Kupetska
born in 1996, is a Ternopil-based artist, who works in the genre of graphics and abstract painting. Her practice is based on the principle of reflecting the external visual image, whether it's an object, a photograph, or a picture stored in memory.
Sofiia uses artistic means of expressionism to reproduce reality, where banal subjects or objects become an irritant for the viewer, who is accustomed to search for references or symbolism and attach an emotional colour to certain things. Sofiia Kupetska is a graduate of the Monumental Painting department at Lviv National Academy of Arts.
Sofiia Kupetska takes part in an Emergency Residency, a project of monthly residencies for Ukrainian artists, established in reaction to Russia's military aggression in Ukraine in 2022. This residency is organized with the financial support of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in partnership with culture.pl, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art and Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko. Project is supported by Meta Company.

Закінчила Львівську Національну Академію мистецтв (кафедра монументального живопису) . Працюю у жанрі графіки та абстрактного живопису.
В основі моєї практики є принцип рефлексії на зовнішній візуальний образ, це може бути об’єкт, фото, картинка, що збереглась в памяті.
Я відтворюю реальність, опираючись на художні засоби експресіонізму, де банальні сюжети чи предмети стають для глядача певним подразником, так як ми звикли бути в пошуку посилань чи якогось символізму і самі надаємо емоційного забарвлення тим чи іншим речам.
