Living Room

Living Room is an experimental space at Dobra 14/16 in Warsaw, run and inhabited by the Swiss artists, Lou Masduraud and Antoine Bellini, whose activity you can follow at http://living-room.space/

Living Room is a project thought as a collective experience of a situation. Initiated by Lou Masduraud and Antoine Bellini is an attempt to blur the boundaries between the gallery space, the workplace, the living space and social space. Living Room is a room at 14/16 Dobra Street, which for the whole month of July becomes a place of everyday life, meetings, discussions, interventions and other activities of Polish and foreign visual artists, choreographers, musicians, curators, filmmakers, poets and guests.

The project refers to the idea of art in practice that stands in opposition to the exhibition as a medium of presentation and reception. In the Living Room function of the viewer is basically suspended and exchanged by participation. The main objective is to experience a semi-private and open situation, and also study the potential of artistic practices created without the intention of public presentation.

In reference to musical practice of Masduraud and Bellini as well as their interest in the rehearsal, we can see this collective experience in terms of everyday life; and if we are willing to accept a performance beyond representation, then the Living Room can be considered as private one-month performance.

This residency has been possible thanks to the financial support of the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and the City of Warsaw.
