Ludwika Ogorzelec announced the winner of this years President Lech Kaczyński Award

Ludwika Ogorzelec, whose exhibition I'm Looking for a Moment of Equilibrium is on display until 27 June 2021 at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, has been awarded the President Lech Kaczyński Award. She received the laudation during Polska Wielki Projekt Kongres [Poland Great Project Congress] at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, where her new work from the Crystallization of Space series, Reaching the Impossible, is on show until 20 June 2021.

The accolade, received by Ludwika Ogorzelec on Saturday, 29 May 2021, is awarded to artists whose artworks contribute to a better understanding of Polish history and traditions and constitute a valuable vision for the future. The previous laureates of this distinction include, among others Wojciech Kilar, Michał Lorenc, Lech Majewski, and Antoni Libera.

Ludwika Ogorzelec was born in 1953 in Chobienia. In 1983, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, where she studied sculpture in the studio of prof. Leon Podsiadły. Since 1985, she has been living in Paris. In the years 198587 she continued work in the studio of prof. César at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1986, she exhibited at de la Jeune Sculpture, d'Automne, Réalités Nouvelles, de mai 44e salons and started working with the Barbier Beltz Gallery in Paris. In the following years, her work was exhibited in Sweden, the United States, Greece, Switzerland, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Australia, Canada, China, South Korea, and also in Poland. In 2007, on the 25th anniversary of the Solidarność Walcząca [Fighting Solidarity], she was awarded the Commanders Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. She is also the laureate of the Prix du Conseil National and The Pollock Krasner Grant.
