Brunch with a writer – Mirene Arsanios' reading

  • To finish her art residency in Warsaw, at the invitation of Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Mirene Arsanio, together with Natalia Malek and the CCA team, invite you to a public reading of her literary pieces and brunch with the writer in Tarabuk Bookshop Café.
    • During the reading, Mirene Arsanios will perform:
      • excerpts from her Beirut Sex Dictionary series,
      • short story One part of you is catching fire,
      • fragments from her series about the Lebanese woman Mavi The Mavi Stories,
      • and – premiering – a short story she wrote when staying in Warsaw Mavi’s Wet Dream.
    • We will also read diverse pieces by the contemporary Polish women writers who tackle similar questions of embodiment and bodying, female desire, pain and physicality (the abject and disgust playing role in it) in their fiction. Together, we will reflect on the means and types of representing the physical experience in the literature of our countries. And we will have brunch together!
