  • A masterful adaptation of Murakami's prose directed by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, who has made a rapid ascent to the ranks of the world’s most important filmmakers. After winning the Silver Bear in Berlin for his excellent Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, only a few months later he was awarded Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival. Drive My Car, based on a short story from the collection Men Without Women, is an intimate story about a complex love relationship between a brilliant actor and director and a woman who keeps many secrets from him. It is a story about unconditional acceptance of a close one and of oneself and one's imperfections, a beautiful and touching ode to life. Drive My Car is a deeply moving road movie in which life is reflected in art: theatre and literature.
