Food for Profit

directed by Pablo D'Ambrosi & Giulia Innocenzi, Italy 2024, 90'

The Italian box-office hit Food for Profit is the first feature-length documentary to uncover the hidden connections between the meat industry, lobbying, and politics.

The film is the result of a five-year investigation revealing how Europe channels hundreds of billions of euros of taxpayers’ money into industrial farmsplaces where animals suffer unimaginable cruelty, the environment is damaged, and the risk of future pandemics grows.

Journalists Giulia Innocenzi and Pablo D’Ambrosi combine investigative reporting with cinematic storytelling, taking viewers on an eye-opening and often shocking journey across Europe. The film confronts farmers, corporate representatives, and politicians, exposing the realities behind the facade of supposedly exemplary European meat and dairy production. The investigative team gained access to farms in multiple countries, including Poland, uncovering the true face of the industry, while an undercover lobbyist infiltrated the highest levels of power in Brussels, revealing startling truths.

Following the screening, there will be a discussion with director Pablo D’Ambrosi and invited experts: Katarzyna Miśkiewicz, Dr. Jarosław Urbański, and Bartosz Zając. The session will be moderated by Antoni Lorenc, a long-time advocate for farm animal welfare with the Open Cages Association and a representative of the Stop Industrial Farms Coalition.

Pablo D’Ambrosi director, screenwriter, and editor of Food for Profit, is a British-Italian filmmaker. He has authored key reports on the socio-economic and environmental impacts of industrial animal farming in Poland.
