Fritzi – A Revolutionary Tale
[Fritzi – eine Wendewundergeschichte], directed by Matthias Bruhn, Ralf Kukula, Germany 2019, 90'
Summer of 1989. Germany is still divided in two. Twelve-year-old Fritzi misses her friend, Sophie, who is staying in the Western part of the country. The girl will soon learn about a peaceful revolution and the power of loyalty. Fritzi’s friend goes on holiday abroad and leaves her beloved dog Sputnik with her. But in autumn, Sophie does not come back – she has stayed in Western Germany. This touching film, fit for the whole family, is a truthful image of the past era, where peaceful protests changed the world. A moving and formally unique animation about historical turmoil from the perspective of young people.
