U–jazdowski recommends
Cinema at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art remains open, online. We recommend experimental and artistic films that are available online free of charge, from legal sources.
Cinema screenings hosted by the U–jazdowski Cinema have been suspended due to the epidemic in Poland. Until we can re-open our premises, we will be posting on our website and social media channels a selection of artistic and experimental films, as well as some classics, by the cinema curator, Michał Matuszewski. It will also be an opportunity to showcase valuable content that cannot be screened at a cinema, such as online interactive projects.
This March, we were going to launch a new film review entitled Cinema of Crises, showcasing experimental documentaries as a point of reflection on formal and ethical aspects of picturing crises. A crisis is a condition that creates a sense of danger and a catastrophic mood. However, it can also be constructive – an indispensable phase of change. Crises can be moments of tension that release the energy necessary for creating new scenarios for the future. It is because of a crisis that our cinema’s activities are temporarily suspended. We hope that this time – difficult and painful for many – will be the beginning of a positive transformation.
