Louisiana Story – Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art

Louisiana Story is a black-and-white docudrama directed by Robert J. Flaherty, a pioneer of documentary filmmaking. The film transports us to the pristine, swampy regions of Louisiana (the bayou).

The protagonist, a young boy from a Cajun community, spends his days traversing local waters accompanied by a pet raccoon. This harmonious world is disrupted by the arrival of an oil-drilling crew.

Flaherty presents the clash between a traditional lifestyle close to nature and inevitable technological progress in a poetic and balanced manner.
