The Metamorphosis of Birds is an elaborate and aesthetically captivating autobiographical story with elements of fiction, that wanders through the lives of three generations represented by actors and relatives of the director. At its core is the figure of a mother-tree, who provides roots but also branches one can bounce off and fly away from. With the sense of a painter and the inquisitiveness of an archaeologist, Catarina Vasconcelos not only discovers the history of her own family, but also unveils universal mechanisms of change that apply to everything that lives.
