Minari
directed by Lee Isaac Chung, USA 2020, 115'
Chasing the American dream, Jacob Yi and his family move from California to rural Arkansas. He wants to start his own farm and grow vegetables for the local Korean shopkeepers. Other family members are not happy with the move. A universal, tender story about the delicate art of putting down roots that requires time, patience and humility, which makes a neat reference to a resistant Korean herb minari that will grow anywhere it’s planted.
