Flee
directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, Denmark / Sweden / Norway 2021, 90'

For 20 years Amin Nawabi (pseudonym), a 36-year-old ambitious scientist, has been dealing with a painful secret that threatens the stability of the life he is building for himself and the fiancé he is about to marry. The story that Amin tells director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, a friend since high school, for the first time – the story of the difficult journey he made as a refugee child from Afghanistan – is recreated mostly through animation. With frank conversations between Jonas and Amin, Flee tells an unforgettable story of self-discovery. It shows that you can only shape the future once you have dealt with the past and conveys the universal truth that we only truly understand what it means to be at home when we stop running away from ourselves.
