This Room Wants
The installation This Room Wants is a space developed collectively by adults on the autism spectrum and accompanied in the creative process by curators Aleksandra Rajska and Anna Szary, collaborating designers Matylda Halkowicz and Marta Szostek, choreographer Monika Kiwak, and composer Patryk Zakrocki.
We welcome viewers into a space that is the result of an encounter between creative people, but also an encounter with visual art, motion, and sound. The shape is the outcome of a design process supported by invited art professionals. The process took on the form of a workshop allowing creative freedom at each stage. With interest and liking, we accompanied the participants of this process in their search for new ways of expression. The look and theme of the installation were not planned; it developed gradually, without even a preliminary concept. It was important for us to observe where creative searches would lead the participants. As a result, six objects were created that were included in the performative activity. A soundtrack on which you can hear the voices of the contributors accompanies the installation. They all complete the sentence used as the title for the exhibition: This room wants... In this way, they can all find their own voice. They communicate their way of feeling the space through sound, color, texture and shape. The objects they design interact with one another, becoming a representation of their creators. They do something that, apart from the installation room, has even more nuances.
Please listen to your own feelings, think about what this room wants from you, for you, with you.
The installation was realized as part of the AUT/ART project.
