Regan Bowering

Pocztówka Dźwiękowa [guest event]
  • Pocztówka dźwiękowa and the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art invite you to a concert.

  • Regan Bowering is a British percussionist, composer, and improviser. In her work, she explores the rhythmic and percussive potential that lies at the intersection of improvisation, sound art, and experimental composition. She employs various combinations of percussion, objects, amplifiers, microphones, and feedback. Her music is characterized by a deep engagement with space, materiality, and sound systems she creates sonic textures that move from intense contrasts to subtle percussive nuances. The Quietus described her debut solo release Solos for _ _ _ _ Spaces (Bezirk Tapes, 2023) as a play of contrasts driven by a desire to create electrifying drama rather than pure, autotelic dissonance.
    • In addition to her solo practice, Bowering has performed and recorded in duos and trios. This has resulted in SAX & DRUMS with Sue Lynch (Scatter Archive, 2025), as well as Music for Snare Drums and Portable Speakers (Infant Tree, 2023) and 2 Movements (Feedback Moves, 2024) with Li Song and Conal Blake.
  • In her academic work, Bowering is pursuing a PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research examines the relationships between rhythm, technology, and temporal experience within avant‑garde practice. She is also a Fulbright scholar for postgraduate students and a visiting researcher at Columbia University in New York. The culmination of these sonic explorations is her new album A Technology of Feeling, released in January this year by the label Infant Tree.
