Open Storage
Ewa Gorządek
The catalogue features more than a hundred representative artworks from the International Collection of Contemporary Art of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, mainly paintings, sculptures, and installations, both by classics and by young artists from Poland and abroad. The volume includes extensive artist bios, work descriptions, ample illustration material, as well as an essay devoted to the increasingly popular formula of presenting museum collections in storage spaces made available to visitors (known as open storage or studio storage).
Open Storage was launched at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in 2022. This is a new, unique element of the Castle’s public programme, enabling the visitor to get acquainted with works of contemporart art, collected since 1992 and presented in the form of a “storage” exhibition, in informal conditions. The specially arranged space has been conceived as a modern art storage open to visitors, where the personal relationship with the work is crucial. Thanks to this, viewers can come into contact with many unique objects from the Collection, usually hidden in the depths of storerooms inaccessible to art lovers.
The catalogue is available as a PDF file in the Download tab.
