Artist Talk with Jordan Loeppky-Kolesnik
- Drawing on the history of the Cistern as part of U–jazdowski's time as a hospital, Loeppky-Kolesnik presents a series of objects created during their residency at U–jazdowski, investigating the internal processes of physiological healing. The works refer to architectural subtleties and technological bio-attunement, creating experiences of gathering, containment, enhancement, and potential.
- Using the logic of submersion, viewers descend into the cistern where they are exposed to near-infrared light, a spectrum of light that is invisible to the human eye, but encourages cell regeneration.
- A stone sculpture, based on the classical architectural form called an exedra, uses remnants of the castle's renovation, recalling the castle’s own healing process. Other works appropriate pneumatics and machinery used for the movement and transfer of liquid or gas, mirroring the psychological systems of the human body.
