  • Mikołaj Majkusiak
    • Composer, instrumentalist, arranger and producer. Born in 1983 in Warsaw, graduated in composition and accordion performance from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Received multiple scholarship from the Ministry of Art and Culture, including the scholarship of the Minister of the Republic of Poland Młoda Polska (Young Poland). Winner of composition competitions – for the pieces Paura /Warsaw 2001/ and Toccata /Legnica 2001/ as well as a dozen Polish and international accordion competitions, amongst others in Italy /Castelfidardo 1996/, Poland – 1st place and the special prize Rydwan Apollina /Sanok 1998/, Germany /Klingenthal 2000/.
      Performances of his pieces and concerts include: concerts in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Spain, Holland, Japan, Canada, Lithuania, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Italy, and the UK; music festivals – Klara Festival, International Festival Wratislavia Cantans, Ljubljana Festival, Music Masters on Air, Warsaw Autumn, Festival of Premieres, Warsaw Guitar Festival; National Baltic Opera, in the Philharmonic: National, Częstochowa, Łódź, Sudecki, Szczecin, Warmińsko-Mazurska, Opole, Baltic.

  • Hashtag Esnemble
    • is a group founded by flutist Ania Karpowicz in 2013. The initiative joins outstanding young artists and composers who are constantly involved in the work of the Hashtag Ensemble (Dariusz Przybylski, Ignacy Zalewski, Wojciech Błażejczyk). Members of Hashtag Esnemble have a total of 72 premieres, 103 awards in competitions as performers of classical music as well as performances at 78 Polish and international music festivals.

       

      Hashtag Ensemble has performed at such festivals as Poznań Spring (2016), Musica Electronica Nova (2015), Music Gardens (2015), Warsaw Music Meetings (2014), and also performed at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio (2016), Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN (2016), Solti Hall in Budapest (2016), National Philharmonic in Minsk (2016 ), the Laboratory Building of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art (2014), UMFC Concert Hall as part of Studium Muzyki Nowej (2014, 2015), Meskalina Club in Poznań (2016), Boogaloo in Warsaw (2016), Skwer within the frames of DUX sounds in Trzcin (2013). Hashtag Ensemble features works by 20th century classics such as Peter Maxwell Davies, Louis Andriessen, George Crumb, Gerard Grisey, and Steve Reich. The group also collaborates extensively with Polish composers to expand their repertoire (including Dariusz Przybylski, Wojciech Błażejczyk, Adam Porębski, Mikołaj Majkusiak).

       

      Improvisation is an important aspect of the Hashtag Ensemble, which is reflected on their first album “Visegrad Songs,” released by Requiem Records Opus Series (2015). The album received excellent reviews from the Polish Radio as well as the magazines Lizard and HiFi Music. Material from the album was played during 7 promotional concerts in Poland, Hungary, and Belarus. In addition to the "Visegrad Songs," the Hashtag Ensemble improvised to the music of Bartok, traditional Warsaw songs, the exhibition of the Senegalese visual artist El Sy, and in the series of Photographic Scores –  implemented in the program #WITKACY – for the self-portraits of Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. Hashtag Ensemble is involved in arts education, and since 2016, they are conducting a regular cycle of educational concerts of contemporary music and mini sound performances at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art within the frames of the Smykowizje [KidVisions] project. The group records for Polish Radio and collaborates with Polish theatres. Ignacy Zalewski's music for the Polish Radio’s spectacle of Dante’s “Paradiso” in the performance of the group was awarded at the 15th Festival of Polish Radio and Polish Television Two Theatres in Sopot (2015); Wojciech Błażejczyk's music for the spectacle "Jungle Book" was nominated for the Golden Mask Award in 2015.
