Marszewski at Marszałkowska 9/15

Marszewski at Marszałkowska 9/15 is a temporary studio of the artist Katharina Marszewski in the public space.

Just like craftsmen workshops and service companies, Marszewski’s studio will welcome its public within a fixed timeframe: two afternoons on Thursdays and two late evenings on Saturdays. Outside the opening hours, the work in progress taking place in the studio will be revealed through the premise’s shop – windows. The event, organized in a former hat store Porthos, is neighter a conventional exhibition, nor a series of carefully planned actions. Its rather an ongoing situation, revealing hidden and unexpected actions, appearing spontaneously, without a defined script or measure. The keywords useful for understanding Marszewski’s intention are „the processual” and „collage”. The artist plans to use various media in producing her Warsaw inspired art pieces: including photography, installation, sound, word, silk-screen print and performance. Guests, coming from Warsaw and Berlin, will join Marszewski in her art process and contribute to her work.

Katharina Marszewski was born 1980 in Warsaw, spend her youth in Germany, currently living and working in Berlin. In 2009 she graduated in Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig. She has taken part in several exhibitions, recently she showed her works at the Art Berlin Contemporary and in the frames of Piękna Pogoda exhibition at the Foksal Gallery Foundation. Her solo show will be on view from June at the Stereo Gallery in Poznań.

This situation takes place within the residency of Katharina Marszewski at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in the framework of Studio Warszawa curated by Marianna Dobkowska.
