She's Touching Her Forehead, She Can Feel It Burning, She Probably Has a Fever
Opening — 19/06/2026, 19:00
The exhibition She's Touching Her Forehead, She Can Feel It Burning, She Probably Has a Fever presents the work of artist Karolina Breguła. It is about how people behave when they face danger. The exhibition is part of a series showing works by artists whose work is included in the collection of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art.
The main work in the exhibition is the film Storm. The characters watch a violent storm developing over a nearby island. At first, they try to work together. Over time, however, they become more focused on their own needs. They also begin to react with indifference, and sometimes even cynicism, to the problems of others. The film shows how fear and pressure can weaken relationships, lead to isolation, and increase feelings of anxiety.
As in Breguła’s other films, the landscape is not just a background. It reminds us of the people who lived in these places and of what happened to them.
The exhibition also includes works connected with Taiwan, which often appears in the artist’s work. A photograph from the Low Tide series shows the town of Xincuo being flooded by the sea. It presents a disaster that happens slowly rather than suddenly. As the land gradually sinks, water slowly enters the everyday lives of local residents.
