Karolina Breguła (b. 1979) is a visual artist working across installation and socially engaged practice. She creates stories about buildings, architecture and urban spaces, as well as the communities that use them, treating these as fields for anthropological and sociological observation.
Her works have been presented in many museums and galleries around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Taipei, the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Japan, the Jewish Museum in New York, and Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, as well as at international art festivals such as the Venice Biennale and the Singapore Biennale. She has received many awards, including the Views Deutsche Bank Foundation Award, the EMAF Festival Award and the Golden Claw at the Gdynia Film Festival.
She lives in Szczecin, where she teaches at the local Academy of Art. For ten years, she has been developing her artistic practice primarily in Tainan, Taiwan. She collaborates with lokal_30 gallery.
