Rozdroże Festival 2023
27th International Festival of Performing Arts. Art for the end of the world
The international performing arts festival Rozdroże, organized since 1994, presents valuable works at the intersection of contemporary dance, theater, visual arts and music. The work of respected artists from abroad, unknown in Poland, is confronted with new works by artists working in Warsaw.
The 27th edition of the festival will present the work of artists working on the border of art. Festival subtitle is: Art for the end of the world.
Our viewers will be able to discover the work of world-renowned precursors of interdisciplinary performances and installations: Shiro Takatani and the Dumb Type group from Kyoto. Takatani is one of the most outstanding Japanese creators of contemporary art. He uses digital technologies in his works. Takatani and the Dumb Type Group created dozens of performances and installations in which the performers' actions were treated equally with image projections, sound and space arrangement. Lecture by Yukiko Shikata will be illustrated with projections - among others: the film Giulio Boato Shiro Takatani - between nature and technology.
In addition, a new, premiere performance by Warsaw artists from the Akt Theater will be shown. Teatr Akt has been operating since 1989. It was founded by adepts of the Pantomime School at the Jewish Theater: Agnieszka and Tomasz Musiałowicz and Marek Kowalski.
The festival program will also include a screening of photographs by Marta Ankiersztejn from performances presented at subsequent editions of the Rozdroże festival.
