Large-Scale Object Sound Registration System – Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art

On Friday, September 18th at 7:00 PM, we invite you to the opening of Aleksandra Przybysz's exhibition Large-Scale Object Sound Registration System. Admission is free.

• Aleksandra Przybysz’s project develops an original methodology for the sonification of hyperobjects – phenomena described by Timothy Morton as operating on such vast temporal and spatial scales that they remain impossible for human perception to apprehend in their entirety.

  • Hyperobjects include, among other things, global warming and radioactive waste. They exist within temporalities that extend far beyond the horizon of a human lifespan. They are also responsible for the end of the world as we know it.

• Hyperobjects entangle the distant past with the distant future, causing geological time to assume the form of a peculiar loop. They also permeate history and geopolitics, manifesting themselves, among other things, in the extraction of the minerals and metals essential to the functioning of the contemporary world.
