          • Following the open call for self-published artist's books, we have gathered over 60 highly diverse publications  from artbooks and photobooks to zines and paper objects. Do these dozens of submissions reveal anything about the state of self-publishing in Poland? Which design solutions stand out? And what distinguishes self-published books from those produced within today’s official publishing landscape? Designer and design curator Magdalena Heliasz will discuss the publications on display

          • At the centre of the space stands a wooden table with an irregular, landscape-like surface for displaying books, surrounded by ample space for moving freely, resting and reading. A bookshop is a key element of any cultural institution and it could not be otherwise at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art. The Art Book Fair is the perfect moment to inaugurate its programme. Architect Maciej Siuda and visual artist Katarzyna Przezwańska, the designers of the interior, will lead a tour of the new art bookshop

        • From an idea to a publication. How to self-publish a photobook? [Event in Polish]

          • What does the process of creating your own book involve? What tools and solutions are available to self-publishers? How do design decisions  such as paper, format or binding  influence how a publication is experienced? And finally: what pitfalls and challenges await first-time self-publishers, and how can they be avoided? Photographer and RUST Publishing co-founder Jakub Szachnowski will discuss how to publish your first book.

          • During the lecture, we will look at publications accompanying art exhibitions and books that can be regarded as an autonomous medium, opening up space for artistic narrative. Magdalena Frankowska, co-founder of the Fontarte design studio, will discuss various artistic and editorial strategies that allow us to think of a book as a form of exhibition

          • What determines whether a given idea becomes a book? How is collaboration between the publisher and the artists shaped? And how can the artistic vision be reconciled with the realities of the publishing process, including financial constraints? Artists Alicja Bielawska, Karolina Bielawska, Antonina Gugała and Anna Orłowska, whose books have been published by Bored Wolves, will talk about the behind-the-scenes process of creating books that fall outside classic models of production and distribution. The meeting will be moderated by Anka Wandzel, essayist and author of The Art of Survival
