Video essays from Mediateka archives

Screenings on the ground floor of the Ujazdowski Castle and the Cistern in front of the Castle

To celebrate the 2022 Night of Museums at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art we prepared special attractions.

You will be able to travel through time and watch a selection of materials from Mediateka, i.e., the U–jazdowski digital archive – a collection of audio-video, performance, concerts and other recordings, as well as archival footage from festivals that took place at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art.

In the Cistern located in front of the Ujazdowski Castle, you will be able to watch recordings of fragments of a meeting with Oleg Kulik, a performance by Jan Świdziński and a butoh dance show from the first, 1994 edition of the Rozdroże festival.

On the ground floor of the Ujazdowski Castle, we will present video essays from the Bik Van der Pol Far Too Many Stories to Fit into so Small a Box exhibition presented at U–jazdowski in 2019 and 2020. They video essays trace the history of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, from its inauguration in the 1980s, and highlight themes such as art in public space, critical art, and conceptual, post-conceptual and performance art.

All videos are presented exclusively on the Night of Museums, from 16:00 to midnight. Admission is free.
