Conversations with emerging Polish architects
Meeting with the Architektura Wrażliwa studio

Architektura Wrażliwa is an architectural studio founded in 2021 by Agnieszka Kacprzak and Łukasz Szczepanowicz graduates of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of the Arts in Poznań, which they completed with distinction.

Before launching their joint practice, they gained experience abroad, working in renowned international design studios, including Henning Stummel Architects, Heatherwick Studio, Universal Design Studio, and Howells Architects.

Agnieszka and Łukasz are multiple recipients of artistic scholarships, through which they realised spatial installations addressing social issues. Their work has been exhibited at venues including the Arsenał Gallery in Białystok, the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, the Museum of Southern Podlasie, and during Berlin Design Week.

The studio focuses on designing living spaces those closest to people while developing the concept of regenerative architecture, which not only does less harm, but actively supports, heals, and renews. They create spaces sensitive to the rhythm of nature, caring for the well-being of both inhabitants and the environment. They ask fundamental questions about how and from what we build. They strive for architecture based on natural materials circular and beautiful design that inspires, educates, and encourages greater care for the planet.

In their practice, they embrace imperfection and chance, welcoming the unpredictable outcomes of working with unusual materials.

This approach was shaped in part by Agnieszka’s participation in the Hooke Park Build programme (AA School of Architecture, UK), where she worked on an experimental structure using natural beech forks as load-bearing elements. This experience deepened her interest in unconventional, natural materials and shaped her perspective on sustainable and regenerative design.

In the spirit of these values, Agnieszka also engages in educational work she co-leads classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the Faculty of Interior Architecture, focusing on resource-respectful design and the creative reuse of reclaimed materials. Her fascination with construction offcuts and respect for materials finds a natural extension in her work with children at the Miejsce Tworzenia a creative activity studio she founded where, through play, she inspires the discovery of value in what may seem like waste.

The values that guide Architektura Wrażliwa are also reflected in Łukasz’s personal project. His commitment to the idea of co-housing as an alternative to anonymous urban living led to his co-creation and redesign of a tenement house in Warsaw’s Stare Bielany district, adapted to the needs of a small community in the spirit of co-housing. As both an architect and a resident of the space, Łukasz experiences daily how architecture can support human relationships, foster a sense of belonging, and enable more caring forms of neighbourliness.
