A new chapter — art bookshop at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art
Opening: 6 December 2025
The bookshop is an integral part of a cultural institution and must also have its place within the activities of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art.
The concept of the new bookshop arises from the needs of the artistic community, the expectations of our audiences, and the programme objectives of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art. We regard the book as an important tool for presenting and analysing contemporary art. In the new bookshop you will find, among other things, photobooks and graphic books, artistic zines, art publications, and works published as a result of creative residencies.
Designed by architect Maciej Siuda and artist Katarzyna Przezwańska, the space will highlight both the building’s historic architecture and its contemporary exhibition profile. The ceilings and walls will remain exposed, while a central wooden display table – shaped like a soft, irregular landscape – will showcase art publications. Around it, visitors will find open space to move, benches by the windows for reading, and a welcoming atmosphere for meetings and relaxation. The bookshop will serve as a link between the entrance hall, the Workspace (where talks, workshops, and art book fairs will take place), and the exhibition galleries.
Until the opening of the new art bookshop on 6 December 2025 you may see our books at our library and buy them online.
The bookshop's opening will coincide with the Nobody Reads This: Art Book Fair (6–7 December 2025), held in adjacent spaces. Exhibitor booths and a workshop space for children will be located in the Marble Hall, while meetings with authors and publishers will be held in the Workspace. The fair will be accompanied by film screenings in the Cinema and evening concerts.
