Jarosław Modzelewski

(born in 1955) is one of the most important contemporary Polish painters. In 1980, he received a diploma at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts from the studio of prof. Stefan Gierowski. Between 19821992 he was the co-creator and participant of over thirty Gruppa exhibitions and actions. Until 2020, he ran a painting studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Winner of many awards, including the 1998 Politykas Passport award, the 2004 Jan Cybis Award and the 13th Kazimierz Ostrowski Award in 2014. His artworks are held in private collections in Poland and abroad, as well as in public collections, including national museums in Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Wrocław, the Zachęta National Gallery of Art and Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź.
