Zbigniew Warpechowski

The first volume in the Polish Contemporary Artists series of monographs is the extended edition of the book Zasobnik. Autorski opis trzydziestu lat drogi życia poprzez sztukę performance. The publication includes an essay by Kazimierz Piotrowski, a text by Zbigniew Warpechowski, and appended documentation of the artists 19972019 performances.

In his work, Warpechowski consistently implements a personal artistic credo and his activities usually contradict the prevailing trends while often opposing the ideology of a given period and the opportunism of various artistic circles. For the artist, objection was always a deliberate choice.

  •  It is worth suspending our judgement, and personal or ideological prejudices and taking another look at Zbigniew Warpechowski, the author of Podręcznik (1990), Zasobnik (1998), Podnośnik (2001), Statecznik (2004), Podręcznik bis (2006), Wolność (2009) and the most recent Konserwatyzm awangardowy (2014). Let us look back, kindly, at his other artworks: poems, drawings and paintings, manifestos and performances, articles such as Bizantynizm (1999) or Sens, znaczenie i wartość sztuki (2011), that all form a carefully drawn narrative about art, culture, and his own life philosophy,
